    KU Bachelor of Music Colleges in Nepal Kathmandu University

    Bachelor in Music/Ethnomusicology (BMus) programme emphasizes on training competent musicians and ethnomusicologists on to document, preserve, and work creatively with the endangered musical traditions of Nepal.
    The entire course is highly participatory and students are expected to take an active role in the preparation and leading of class discussions.

    1. Kathmandu University Department of Music

    In August 1996, Kathmandu University (K.U.) opened a Department of Music in Bhaktapur, where ethnomusicology (B.A. and M.A.) and practical music (North Indian classical and Nepalese local traditions) are taught to Nepalese and foreign students. The then German President, Dr. Roman Herzog, inaugurated the department during his state visit to Nepal on 29th November 1996.     School of Arts (SOA) of Kathmandu University was established in 1996. It is one of the six Schools at the University established to impart education in liberal arts, music, media and social sciences with the aim of producing able professionals that can contribute to the development of the nation.
